Building a Gate

16th Street - next to the pool.

16th Street - next to the pool.

A few years back the old Catholic Church near the high school and the swimming pool burned down.  Now it appears that the old Church lot is being used for cemetery expansion.   A fence, and what I think is a beautiful gateway is being built facing 16th Street.  Does anyone remember if this is what the entryway to the old Church looked like?

I thought it was a lot more beautiful to see twenty or so swim team kids out there doing dryland training every afternoon -
Laughing, healthy kids are more important than appearances, IMO

As I understand it, the Church’s property was needed was burying their dead. I bet those healthy kids can do their training at the high school…right next door. I really don’t think that kids need to run over the graves of other people’s loved ones.

They WERE NOT running over any graves – just over the site of the burned down church. They were supervised and it was a good thing.. now they have to cross the street at the height of high school traffic to get to Stewart Park and it is a little scary…
